China Trip Day 4 - Nanjing to Suzhou

Today we went from Nanjing to Suzhou. I didn't take a lot of photos again on my phone so this post will be a bit bare.

We started the day off at a jade "museum" (store) this time and this time I was prepared with some toys for Maddie! We had gotten McDonalds the night before at the night market and she had her happy meal toy to play with. I then gave her some hair clips to play with and it occupied her for the majority of the sales pitch - phew!

We went to see the Nanjing Yantze Bridge which was the first heavy bridge designed and built using Chinese expertise, build in 1968. We got to see a small model of the bridge, and then surprise! There was a small art gallery inside! They had small hollow glass globes and other objects (square, rectangles, vases) that were hand-painted from the inside and you could see the design from the outside. They were quite lovely but very expensive. I have not mentioned this before, but there was another kid on our tour - his name was Ivan and he was 3 years old from Montreal. Anyways, our tour guide was nice enough to let us and him out of the "museum" since we have kids and they would be "locked" in there another 30+ minutes.

So we were able to go outside and see the bridge from the outside. There was a pathway which led to a little park. At the top of a small hill a man was playing an instrument and Maddie enjoyed watching him.

Afterwards we headed to Jinji Lake in Suzhou. I do not remember much but we did go on a little gondola ride. A lady who was about 80 years old pushed all of us from one point of the river to another, singing to us the entire time. Maddie enjoyed watching her sing.
