Busy Busy Weekend! Happy Hour at Teena's, Iza's 2nd Birthday, and trip to Jewel

We had a very busy weekend!  After work on Friday, we headed to the Loop to our friend Teena's place, she was having a summer get together and babies were welcome!  Maddie made friends with Teena's cat Johnny Cakes and everyone loved seeing her, most of our friends hadn't seen her since she was about 1 month old!  In fact, here is the link to the last time most of them saw her - she was so tiny!  Also Maddie was not the youngest one there!  Our friends Nancy & Ogge brought their baby boy Otto who is 8 weeks old.  Maddie reached out and stroked his head.  Maybe she thought he was a cat!  She held up pretty well throughout the evening despite being up past her bedtime.  I put her to bed around 7;30pm.

On Saturday, we drove out to the burbs for our friends Greg & Marta's daughter Izabella's 2nd birthday. What a fun party! They had yummy Mediterranean food and a bouncy house for all the kids. Maddie tried a little bit of hummus and even had some rice.  She also enjoyed the bouncy house. Greg & Marta have a baby boy named Aleksei who is about 2 months older than Maddie.  They played a bit and Maddie gave him lots of kisses!  She wasn't the youngest at this party either, there was a baby boy named Isaac who is 2.5 months old.  She was up past her bedtime again but she was such a trooper! She wasn't very fussy at all but was definitely over tired. She fell asleep as soon as we got on the highway. She woke up when we got home and ended up asleep in bed at around 8:30pm.

We went to the grocery store on Sunday for a much needed grocery trip - we had virtually no food in the house!  I quickly grabbed one of the shopping carts with a toy fire truck in the front for children.  We took her down pretty much every aisle of the store. She started to get antsy towards the end of the trip so we picked her up and carried her a bit, the hard fire truck must have been uncomfortable.  We left the store with lots of much needed groceries and a pretty grumpy baby.

Monday at Pau Pau's

This past Monday I dropped Maddie off at Pau Pau's on my way to work to spend the day there. Maddie had a very busy day!  My cousin Michelle's daughter Emilie (21 months old) was next door at my aunt's.  They met for the first time and played!  Maddie got to spend lots of time with lots of family.

When I went to pick Maddie up after work, we played a bit with Emilie in the backyard. Then Michelle came home and we swapped daughters for a little bit.

As we left to say goodbye, Bak Bak held Maddie for a bit. As I went to take a picture, Maddie turned and gave her the sweetest kiss on the cheek, completely unprompted. I was lucky enough to get a picture at that exact moment.

Maddie Babbling

Maddie has been babbling a lot. She makes B, D and M sounds!  She makes the B "bah" or "buh" and D "da da" sounds when she is just babbling. She makes the M sounds "mah" when she is very tired, hungry or agitated.

And she has been making F noises... she went through this phase of making lots of farty noises. Thankfully it seem to have passed, she hasn't done it as much as she used to....

Maddie's First Time in the Pool!

On Father's Day this past Sunday, we decided to take Maddie to the pool for the first time! Our gym has family hours from 1-5pm on the weekends.  Our bags were packed and we were ready to go as soon as she woke up from her last nap of the day.

The water in the pool was cool (the rest of the pool area was very warm as it's up on the 4th floor with lots of windows).  Maddie shivered and moved her arms and kicked her feet a bunch, and seemed to take to the water immediately! She also didn't mind being dunked underwater a few times!  Joseph blew on her face right before he put her underneath the water (read about that online).

Two Teeth!

First Trip to Target

We took Maddie to Target for the first time on Sunday for some much needed shopping.  It's the first time we put her in a shopping cart for a long period of time, and used a shopping cart cover we bought at a thrift store for $3.00!  We forgot to bring some toys to occupy her, but she was fine chewing on the buckle of the cover for most of the trip.

After she got bored with the buckle, we gave her a box of Cheerios to bang

Simon's 4th Birthday at Lil Kickers

This past Saturday we went to Lil' Kickers for our friend Simon's 4th birthday!  Lil' Kickers is a soccer program for kids, we will probably sign up Maddie for it when she's old enough (starts at 19th months), and they have a session at Wicker Park!  Maddie had lots of fun standing on the bouncy tubes and watching the big kids play soccer.

Kick it to me, I'm open!
