Present from Grandpa Don and Grandma Mary Ellen

Grandpa Don and Grandma Mary Ellen sent Maddie a present from when they went to Florida!

Here is a video of her opening the gift and you can see her sign "Thank you" (she also says "Open" but not sure you can hear it in the video)

And here is a video of her playing with the giraffe. You can see her trying to get it to stand up.  She loves the giraffe!

Saturday Playdate with the Basques!

Our good friends the Basques came over this Saturday for a morning playdate! We had breakfast and then the kids played while the grownups watched and chatted.  After Maddie's (long!) nap, we had lunch and took her to Dean Park to enjoy the spring-like weather. It was a great Saturday!

Thanks to Emily for these super cute pictures!

Maddie Says: Noodle

Maddie loves eating noodles!  Here are a couple of videos of her saying "noodle."  She normally says it better than in the videos.

Happy 91st Birthday Bak Bak!

I dropped Maddie off at Pau Pau's house on Monday on my way to work. It was Bak Bak's 91st birthday! I got some cute pictures and an adorable video of Maddie giving Bak Bak a kiss. Maddie loves her so much (and vice versa of course)!

Just Lying Around

Lately Maddie has taken to lying down on the floor when she is playing around or tired (also unfortunately when she is throwing a tantrum). These are photos of her lying around while playing.

Family Valentine's Day Party at the Ginzburg's

On Saturday night we went over to our friends house for a family Valentine's Day party!  They had a lovely dinner and tons of toys for the kids! Maddie loved playing with all the new toys. They also had a bouncy house in the basement! I did not get any photos but Maddie LOVED it! We had a lovely evening with great friends.

Yodeling at Dinner

Videos of Maddie yodeling (or babbling) at dinner (we had Japanese for dinner, she is eating a piece of sweet potato tempura).

Maddie calls for the cat

Maddie is so smart and observant!  When one or both of the cats come into the room, if we want them to come over to us, we will tap on the ground a few times and make a clicking noise with our mouths and they will usually come over.  Maddie has imitated us by tapping the ground and will do it once in a while when she sees a cat. And she just started making the clicking noise too!

I took a video of it and it's pretty adorable! You can see her tap the ground and click her mouth. She is also being mischievous by standing on top of her Madeleine chair. But she does sit when I ask her too and goes feet first off of the chair (instead of head first!).

Fun with the Bubble Gun!

We purchased a $5 bubble gun at Target this weekend. It is pretty awesome! Maddie loves it, just look at her smile and listen to the giggles in this video. (It was very close to bedtime which is why she's a bit clumsy and falls a few times in this video.)

15 Months Old!

Maddie is 15th months old today! We went to the doctor's for her 15 month appointment this morning.  She received 3 shots (DTap, Hib, Hep A). She is still at the top of the charts for growth, she's as tall as the average 22 month old!

So far she is on track, if not exceeding, her milestones (walking, eating well, understanding and speaking some words, following simple commands).  We were the most surprised when the doctor said the average 15 month old will say 2 words (though online "research" said about 5 words). We can't keep track of how many words Maddie can say, and the number of words she understands is even greater!

At our next appointment at 18 months, it's only to get her stats and check her milestones - NO shots!

Official Stats:
Weight: 23.5 pounds - 80th percentile (up 1.3 lbs from 3 months ago)
Height: 33.0 inches - 99th percentile! (up 1.75 in from 3 months ago)
Head circumference: 47 centimeters - 80th percentile (up 1.0 cm from 3 months ago)

Here are some pictures from today at 15 months old!

Fun Weekend!

We had a very fun weekend with our amazing girl.

We took Maddie to her playgroup class on Friday.  We got there a bit late but in time for bubbles and the parachute.

On Saturday we went to McFetridge Park while Joseph had his tennis class. We explored the outdoor playground, then went inside to watch a pee wee ice hockey game in progress, then to the indoor tennis courts and watched some kids play tennis. Later that night we went to Chinatown with Pau Pau and Uncle Jeff to celebrate Chinese New Year. Luckily Maddie took a later 2nd nap than usual as we were keeping her up way past her bedtime.  Maddie did such a great job saying the words "Uncle" and "Pau Pau" and pointing to the right person!

On Sunday we went to Little Beans indoor playground and then the playground before it got dark, as it is supposed to get very cold this week (It was 45 today!).

At playgroup. She loves sitting and rocking in this wooden boat.

Maddie loves tunnels!

At Chinese New Year dinner,

The restaurant gave us orange slices as dessert. We have given Maddie oranges before but she didn't seem to like them. Not this time! The oranges were very sweet and she LOVED them, even biting of some of the peel!

She loved playing with the light switches

Happy Chinese New Year 2016!

Happy Chinese New Year! This year is the year of the Monkey!

We celebrated with dinner out on Saturday night and today I put Maddie in 2 different Chinese outfits.

The first gold outfit is the same dress we put her in last year!  Here is the post from last here.  What a difference a year makes!  I also cannot believe the dress fits - the label says 4-6 months, but I guess it is a mini dress on her now.

The second red outfit is from my aunt and cousins in Hong Kong. They brought it to Maddie from Hong Kong when they visited last summer.

Maddie at a little over 3 months, and Maddie at 15 months!

Cute picture and video from Pau Pau's phone

Here is an adorable picture and video from Pau Pau's phone that are maybe 2-3 weeks old.

Maddie picks up the ball and puts it in the basket after Pau Pau asks her to!

Maddie tries Lime

We had Mexican food for dinner tonight and gave Maddie a slice of lime to try.  We have given it to her once before and she loved it (in that she grimaced after trying, but kept going back for a taste). We did not video that time, but did video today. She is more hesitant to try the lime again, but eventually she decides to try it again and again.

Playing with the play tent and tunnel

We went to Ikea a couple of weeks ago and bought a plastic tent and tunnel for Maddie to play with, as she really enjoys the one at playgroup. No surprise, she loves it!!  We can even fit in it too (with some effort).

Here are some cute videos of Maddie and Mama playing in the tent and tunnel. The ending of the second video is very cute where Maddie runs to Joseph.

Saturday in the Park - Cutest pictures ever!

This past Saturday was 45 degrees and partly sunny! We had lunch at Cheesie's (see previous post) then went to Dean Park which is around the corner.

We had the entire park practically to ourselves!  I took the absolute cutest pictures of Maddie at the park while playing "peekaboo" through the rings.
