Scaredy was sunning himself on the couch and let Maddie pet him! She loves when he lets her pet him!

Memorial Day Weekend Fun (with Video)

We had a nice relaxing long weekend for Memorial Day!

On Friday Joseph took Maddie to the Library and then to the "sand park" which is Ehrler Park that has the sand pit.  On the way back Maddie got a huge kick of the inflatable dancer guy in front of the mattress store!

On Saturday Maddie got to cuddle with both cats on the couch!

I absolutely love this video!  Whenever we get the cats to come around, and they smell either of our feet, we say "Scaredy smelled my stinky foot!" or we will ask Scaredy to "smell my stinky foot?"  I finally got video of Maddie asking Scaredy to smell her foot and then afterwards she says "Scaredy smelled my stinky foot!"

On Sunday we went to Ikea to buy Maddie's "big girl bed"!  We loved finding bins full of her favorite toy "Green Ball" and she even tried to take a nap with them.

On Monday we had a few friends over for a barbecue since there was no school.  Maddie had fun playing with play dough and "washing" her clings before they arrived.  After they came over, the kids played in the bouncy house, on the swing set, and also with the new water table we got from Costco. We filled one side with water beads and they had a blast!

Lillian had come over dressed as a bug and we called her a Lily Bug. After Lily left, Maddie wanted to dress up like a bug too! So this is her in her bug costume (red devil ears and red bandana for wings) and we called her a Maddie Bug.

Singing Songs and Petting Scaredy Cat (with Videos)

After naptime, we went into the master bathroom to see Scaredy Cat taking a nap on the heated floors. Maddie laid down right next to him and began to sing songs and pet him. Adorable!

Scaredy was laying on the couch and Maddie was having some nuts on her table in the living room. She wanted to share some nuts with Scaredy so would run to her table and grab a nut, then run over to Scaredy and put the nut in this face. She would then eat the nut and give him a kiss.

I grabbed my phone to take this video. She's not sharing a nut with him but she does give him lots of kisses around his backside and then one on his nose. She likes to grab his paws which you can see at the end of the video. We are trying to get her to not do this but at least she didn't kick him this time!

Playing with Yarn and She Knows Her Colors! (Video)

Maddie has started to love playing with my yarn scraps so I've cut her strands of yarn in different colors. She loves moving them from one place to another and flinging the pieces around. It seems overnight she has learned her colors!  She will often pick up something or point to something and say the color.

This day before bedtime, Maddie was playing with the yarn and Voldy cat was sitting near Joseph's lap. Joseph put a piece of yarn on Voldy's head and she didn't move, so Maddie put lots of strands of yarn on Voldy's head, then would remove them all, then put them back on strand by strand. She did this for at least 15 minutes!

Maddie babbles in this video then tells us the color when I ask her what color it is!

Maddie walks and dances in this video. She loves pushing the button on this little animal noise toy and usually dances when the music comes on.

In the mornings we let the cats out of the basement before we head downstairs to feed them. One or both of them will jump the baby gate before we head downstairs. Maddie still loves the cats and has started to become much more gentler with them.

Last day in Tulsa

I forgot I had these cute pictures on my phone from our last day in Tulsa during our Thanksgiving trip.

Maddie enjoyed chasing Grandma Kathy's cat Lil Bit during the trip. On our last day Lil Bit seemed comfortable around her and they played with the measuring tape together.

And we took this cute family selfie before Maddie went to bed for the night.

9th Week

Here are some random pictures from Maddie's 9th week.

This week we ramped up the playtime activities.

We tried out Grandma's Xmas present - the Jumparoo.  She's a little short for it but with some help she can hold her head up and play for awhile.

We started introducing new smells to her (spices from the kitchen).   She didn't have much of a reaction to them other than the licorice ones (fennel seeds, etc) which she did not like.

We started doing situp with the help of a pillow.  She really likes those.

She has begun mimicking sounds as seen in the following video.
