May 2018 - Road Trip to Tulsa to see Family

We took a road trip down to Tulsa to see family! We left on Thursday 5/17 and wanted to make the trip in 1 day.  We brought Maddie to school in the morning so she could work some energy off and also so Joseph could pack the car. We picked her up from school and really hoped both kids would nap in the car on the way... Unfortunately Maddie did not nap but we quite content to do activities and watch shows on the iPad.  James did not take his second nap until about 5pm and then napped only about 45 minutes. He was also quite good though on the trip. We made the trip in about 12 hours which included all of our stops.

We enjoyed ourselves in Tulsa and got to visit with family. Most importantly we got to see Nana Mary Ellen one last time.

We headed back home on Sunday late morning and made it back to Chicago in 11 hours. This time we made more frequent stops but they were shorter in duration.

Maddie in the King Size Bed

We got a room at the Mayo Hotel the night of Jordan & Trent's wedding since Joseph and I had to trade off who would be at the wedding since someone had to stay with the kids.  We got a pack and play for James and he slept in the walk in closet.  Maddie got the entire king size bed all to herself until I was ready to turn in for the night.

I crept in to check in on her at one point and she was sprawled across the entire bed!  When I got into bed, she woke up from a noise and noticed I was in bed with her and started crying and wanted me to get out of the bed and into my own bed! It was hilarious and took me quite some time to get her settled and back asleep, and of course I didn't want her to wake up James!

Visiting Santa 2017

While in Tulsa we took the kits to Utica Square to visit Santa!  He was in a little house all to himself and luckily there was no wait!  Maddie was SO excited to talk to Santa after we told her that she could tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas!  James fell asleep on the car ride there so Maddie had a nice little chat with Santa by herself.  Maddie told Santa she wanted a red car for Christmas. Then she changed it to a blue boat. We took some adorable photos of just Maddie with Santa, then put James in Santa's other arm. He was still half asleep but then got grumpy once he started to wake up! It made for some cute photos!

Tulsa Trip 2017

The entire family flew to Tulsa just after Thanksgiving! We spent about a week and a half and were able to also go to cousin Jordan & Trent's wedding on December 1st!

We had Thanksgiving dinner Friday early evening after we arrived.  We got to see lots of family during the trip and also visited the Tulsa Zoo!  Maddie also got to do some shopping and we also got to see Santa!

Maddie had lots of energy after our flight from Chicago landed. She was running back and forth in the terminal while waiting for Joseph to get our luggage.

Fun at La Fortune Park

We went to La Fortune Park on our last day in Tulsa. We wanted to enjoy the nice weather while we could!  While the playground was nice, Maddie enjoyed playing with the wood chips, sticks and leaves the most!

Early 2nd Birthday Celebration in Tulsa

On Sunday, we all headed to the Incredible Pizza Company in Tulsa to have an early 2nd birthday party for Maddie!  Maddie was a bit overwhelmed by everything going on to eat, but she loved all of the desserts she was able to try!

After singing an enthusiastic "Happy Birthday" to herself (cute video below!) she blew out her candle and we started to eat cake and open presents!

Afterwards we headed to the game section and Maddie rode on a ton of rides and had a blast!!
