Stacking Robots! (Videos)

Grandpa and Nana got Maddie a Stacking Robots toy for her birthday and she has come to love it!  We recently started putting away ALL of her toys so it is less cluttered and only bringing out a box of toys at a time.  Maddie said she wanted to play with robots so I brought the Stacking Robots out and she loved it!

She stacked 4 robots all on her own before they fell down. She did it over and over again.  Here are a couple videos of her stacking. She babbles throughout and she also turns the robots so the faces face her before she stacks them.

Decorating the Christmas Tree!

We got our Christmas tree today!!  Joseph set up the tree and pulled all the decorations out after Maddie woke up from her nap so we could decorate the tree before she went to bed!  Maddie loved trying on all the Christmas hats and going through all the ornaments.

Grandma Kathy got her a merry-go-round one of the last Christmases and she has really enjoyed it. She even knows how to turn it on and off and can change the songs!

Here are some cute pictures of Maddie in front of the tree and I even made an animated gif!

Pictures With Santa 2017

I took Wednesday off so we could take Maddie to see Santa (and avoid the crowds). We had a tough morning as we had to stick around the house until about 11 as Santa was not making his appearance until 12noon (which is lunch time!). We almost did not go out but decided to anyways.  We got to the mall around 11:30 and luckily no one was in line. We walked around a bit then when we saw other parents and kids milling around, one of us stood in line (we were the first in line!) while the other walked Maddie around.

Santa made his way in just before noon and we fixed Maddie up one last time. I think she has made it a tradition to poop in her pants before meeting Santa! (I know she pooped while Santa was holding her at 6 weeks old. I don't exactly remember if she pooped last year...).  Nonetheless, this year at 2 years old, Maddie again had poopy pants while meeting the Big Guy.

He did not seem to mind and gladly took Maddie onto his lap.  Maddie was AMAZING with Santa! We talked to Maddie about Santa for the whole week telling him who he was and what he looked like. She sat on his lap like a champ and even smiled for the camera when we asked her too!! No tears! And she gladly took the little stuffed giraffe he gave her for her present.  She seemed to not want to leave!

We headed up a few floors to a Thai restaurant with a lunch buffet which we all gobbled down before heading home for a much needed nap!

Snow!

We got a ton of snow over the weekend!

Early in the day I brought the snow in doors as it was too cold to play.

Then later on, while it was still cold, Maddie and I went to the back porch to play with the fresh snow!  We got all bundled up and she loved making snow balls and throwing them into a circle I drew on the ground.

This girl loves the snow!!

Videos: Dancing and Playing on the couch

Maddie has a book with buttons that plays songs that she just loves! She pushes the buttons of her favorite songs and loves to dance to them.

Here are some videos of her dancing and also a cute one of her playing on the couch pretending to sleep and wake up.

Saturday at the Chicago History Museum

Maddie and I had the day to ourselves as Joseph went to Dallas for a cousin's wedding.  I picked up a free pass to the Chicago History Museum so we went there in the morning! Joseph and I have been twice so I knew what they had to offer for children. While they are located not too far from us, I did have to drive but luckily they have a validated parking lot 1 block away AND free coat check! It came in super handy as it was a very cold day out and we had on our puffy coats!

The children's area is right on the first floor and Maddie immediately went straight for the hot dog!! She LOVED laying in the hot dog while I put the toppings all around her. Her favorite topping was the mustard toy.  They had a few other exhibits in the children's area but Maddie was not interested at the time.

While playing with the hot dog, a little girl came over and I thought for sure Maddie would have a melt down as she has not been good at sharing with strangers lately. But luckily the girl went to a different exhibit and Maddie got tired of the hot dog and we went to another exhibit as well. I did not get photos, but they had a room with carpet dots on the floor hooked up to noises. You had to step on the right noises to get them to appear on the screen so the next photo would show up. She loved jumping up and down on the dots.

They also had an exhibit of "Chicago smells"!  Maddie LOVES to smell spices so this was right up her alley! She smelled fire, hot dogs, chocolate, grass and cow poop!  Later we walked to a room filled with dioramas that she also loved! She especially liked the ones where they had a button you could push and the diorama would move.

We got lunch there and sat right by the window where she could watch all the cars and buses go by. We then walked quickly to the car and drove home where I put her down for a late nap!  We had a great time and will definitely do it again!!

Lots of pictures and some videos below!
