Sunday Hiking at Waterfall Glen
We went for a hike this Sunday at the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve in one of the southwestern Chicago suburbs. It was about a 35 minute drive from the city (with no traffic) and Maddie was great the entire car ride there. We brought the hiking backpack and strapped her in. She seemed to love it - no complaints! We took her out to explore the waterfall and she loved picking up rocks and throwing them into the water. We put her back in the backpack to hike some more and hiked along the creek. We circled back and went to an Overlook area, and then back to the car. Maddie was great the entire time! We got lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant on the way home.
We set Maddie down for a nap as soon as we got home and I had to wake her up so she didn't sleep too late. She did not want to get up! I opened her door and was even able to take a few pictures with the flash on and she still did not wake up! She only woke up when I coughed a little bit.

Little Monster for Julie's Baby Shower
Our good friend Julie is having a baby boy in August! Her nursery theme is "Little Monster" so for her baby shower I crocheted a Little Monster doll in her nursery colors. I love the way it turned out! I wanted to get a picture of Maddie with it but when I asked her to hold it she kept backing away and saying "no".

Picking Raspberries in the Backyard
Joseph planted a raspberry bush in the backyard when we first moved into the house. It has grown into a huge bush and there are lots of delicious raspberries growing on it this year. We showed Maddie how to pick the raspberries (only the ripe ones) and of course she already knows how to eat them! She loves the raspberry bush and wants to eat raspberries whenever we are in the backyard.
Here are pictures and a video of when we first showed her the raspberry bush.
