Maddie plays with her baby doll

After her naptime, I was folding laundry and showed Maddie some of the blankets we used when she was a baby, and told her we'd be using them for baby brother. She immediately wanted to wrap herself in her old blankets, so I laid her on the bed and wrapped her up. I also had a burb cloth with Hello Kitty on it and showed her how to hold baby brother and how the burb cloth would protect her clothes.  I took these adorable pictures of her playing with her doll (and I was able to fold all the laundry!).

Video: Maddie Singing Daniel Tiger's "When We Do Something New"

During meals we will typically let Maddie watch 1 episode of a show. If mealtime goes longer than the show, we then put on music rather than another show.  Lately we've been listening to the songs from Daniel Tiger. A song came on called "When We Do Something New" and I didn't realize Maddie knew the lyrics until she started singing!  I was able to video her singing the last half of the song.

Lyrics:
When we do something new, let's talk about what we'll do.
When you cut my hair will it hurt my head? It won't hurt at all just might tickle instead
When we do something new, let's talk about what we'll do.
Do do do do do do do

Video: Maddie Singing Edelweiss

One of the songs I sing to Maddie before naptime/bedtime is Edelweiss from the Sound of Music.  Before her naptime, Joseph pretended to take a nap and asked Maddie to sing Edelweiss to him as he was almost asleep.

Family Fun day at the Chicago History Museum

I wanted to do one last thing as a family of 3 before we went in Monday for our scheduled induction so we decided to go to the Chicago History Museum (got free passes from the library!). Maddie ran straight into the kids room (underneath the railing) before we could show them our pass!  She loved being the hot dog again, smelling the smells, and hopping on the carpet circles that made noises.

We visited the room with the dioramas before heading upstairs to the train exhibit. She enjoyed sitting (and standing) on the train seats, and especially loved the other train exhibit where we sat in the engine room where the coal goes in. She pushed the button at least 5 times which means we sat through a small speech 5 times.

We headed back downstairs for the hot dog one last time before walking to a nearby place for lunch.

In all it was a very enjoyable day as our family of 3!

Labor Day Weekend Fun

On Saturday I took Maddie to the library to take out some books and play with some "new" toys. Maddie had a great time at the library!  We took out 4 books (we can take out as many as 50 at a time!!). Afterwards we went to the store just down the street for some groceries, then came home for some lunch.

Here's a picture from Monday - fun with play doh!
