Madeleine's First Tooth!

We discovered today that Maddie's first tooth popped!!  Once in awhile I'll put a finger in Maddie's mouth to feel around for teeth.  Today I felt something very sharp on her lower gums. Normally there is something sharp which I thought was just the center of her gums, but it was sharper today. After some poking and pulling, we saw her bottom tooth had popped!

This explains a little bit - Maddie slept poorly Saturday night. She had a slight fever on Sunday, we gave her some baby tylenol and she slept really well that night (the fever was gone on Monday). She has also been tugging on her right ear a little more than usual the past few days.  And last night, she woke up at 11pm which is very abnormal. I had to hold her for about 40 minutes before I was able to set her back asleep in her crib.  She is always sticking objects in her mouth so nothing new there!

So while we thought she might be teething (which is our excuse whenever she does something out of the ordinary) we thought she'd be much more fussy. Imagine our surprise to see her tooth had already broken through!  It also looks like the tooth next to it is also on its way!  She had another slight fever tonight so we gave her some tylenol in hopes she can sleep better tonight.

UPDATE 6/12/15 Friday morning: Her second tooth is coming through too! It's just the tip but it's on its way out!

Madeleine is 7 months old today!!

She is happy and healthy, loves to smile, giggle, and eat!

Morning Exercises

Every morning when Maddie wakes up, we work on her rolling over and also her standing (though I probably shouldn't be encouraging her to stand in her crib!).

Here are some videos of her rolling over pretty effortlessly, as well as standing and balancing very well in her crib.

The Long Awaited 606!

At long last, The 606 Elevated Park opened up today - June 6th (6/6)!  The City of Chicago converted old rail lines into an elevated park space. It spans 2.7 miles across 4 neighborhoods. There are 13 entrances and the closest is just 0.5 miles away from our house.  We have been eagerly awaiting for the park to open. Joseph got me a new running stroller for Mother's Day so Maddie and I can safely go on runs together on the park!

This morning after Maddie woke up from her (hour and a half!) nap, we strapped her into the new stroller and took off!  We couldn't have asked for a nicer day than today for the opening - high in the mid-60s and the sun beat down on us pretty hard. Wow were there a lot of people!  There were tons of walkers, runners, bikers, skateboarders, kids, babies in strollers, and dogs!

The city did a great job with the park, even though it's not yet complete. They updated existing parks along the trail and created new ones as well! The park has sections for both bikes and squishy rubber sections for runners, built in benches, and landings for resting and taking photos.

We walked west to Humboldt Ave where they were having a festival for the park opening.  We grabbed a bite to eat and got lots of free goodies.  Maddie played in the grass while we ate, and she even tasted green apple for the first time!  After Maddie had another nap, we walked east to the start/end of the park at Ashland. We had such a great time today, we cannot wait to go on many more walks (and runs)!

Your Kiss is on my List

Maddie has started to kiss on the lips! When facing her, we just need to lean in a little bit and she will lean in the rest of the way with the sweetest kiss! Then afterwards she will give a cute little smile.  Sometimes she kisses with just her lips, other times it's an open mouth kiss with full tongue. It is the sweetest thing

Reaching & Falling Over

Maddie has been very interested lately in anything not in front of her.  She will twist and turn to the side and if she goes too far she ends up on her back.  She knows how to roll onto her tummy, but I don't think she realizes yet that she can roll over after she falls so she's upright again.

In the pictures below, she started off with her butt in the middle of the boppy but reached for something and ended up outside of it.
