I dropped Maddie off at Pau Pau's on Monday on my way to work. When I picked her up she was in the backyard garden picking flowers and playing with my cousin's dog who was visiting. His name is Jack and he was very well behaved, though he kept stealing cookies from right out of Maddie's hands! She didn't seem to mind though.
I noticed Maddie was in a funny sleeping position on the baby monitor. She normally sleeps on her tummy with her butt in the air but her but was really high on her knees so her butt was super high up. I couldn't resist and I sneaked in to take a quick picture.
This past Sunday we met our friends the Basques at Humboldt Park in the morning for a playdate! We had so much fun the weekend before we wanted to go back!
We set up a picnic with all sorts of yummy foods (but forgot the plates and napkins!) and lots of things to play with. We then changed the kids into their swim suits and they had a great time playing in the water. This week they turned the water way up from last week. At one point, Maddie was looking at me as she walked into the water and didn't watch where she was going - she walked right into a full blast of water and it hit her smack in the face. She turned around and it took her a few seconds before she started to cry. It looked like it hurt!
Afterwards we went to the spinning area and spun around, then went back to our picnic area for food and the ice cream man came right as we were going to pack up! We had a lovely time and are looking forward to our next playdate!
This past Sunday we went to Dean Park to play. Maddie enjoyed the swing but especially loved the water feature! She was tentative at first but then went straight in around and around. She loved going around once, then running straight towards me to give me a bit wet hug before going back into the water.
This past Sunday was Father's Day! We drove to Humboldt Park and spent the afternoon there. We walked around, swung on the swings and spun around. Maddie loved playing with the water feature! It was extremely hot and thankfully the ice cream guy came! We had a lovely day out!
Here's a cute video of Maddie laughing hysterically with Mama and Dada before bedtime. For some reason she thinks it's hilarious to give me a bunch of spoons, then knock them out of my hands and laugh as they fall on the ground.
We got Maddie a Melissa & Doug Reusable Sticker Book featuring Vehicles and she LOVES it. It's a really neat large book with 5 sheets of a ton of reusable (vinyl) stickers and 5 backgrounds. She probably played with it for 30 minutes when we first brought it out. Lately she will put the stickers on the side of our large tupperware containers.
A little bonus during this video, she says "oh no" when she can't pick up a sticker and it crinkles up.
Here are lots of pictures and a couple of videos from our park visits this past Sunday.
We practically had the whole park to ourselves in the morning. Maddie loves going up and down this hill so much that a little girl (whose name was also Maddie!) and her grandma who were at the park with us commented that "she really likes that hill!"
I also found a new activity at the park for Maddie to enjoy. There are these spinning platforms at the park that she is much too short for but we'll sometimes put her on her tummy and spin her. I put a few flowers (weeds) in the holes and she loved putting the flowers inside the holes one by one, pulling them out one by one, and the putting them back in. We finally had to leave as it got too hot to stay out in the sun.
After Maddie's nap we went to Dean Park and they had their water feature turned on! Maddie was tentative at first and didn't want to get too close to the water.
